Wood Leisure working with Play It Green

Our Environmental Impact

We believe that all of us have a responsibility to care for and protect our planet. That’s why we partnered with Play It Green to improve our sustainability practices and have a more positive impact on the world.

Play It Green provide support to people and businesses into lowering their carbon footprint whilst ensuring they make an ongoing environmental and social impact through tree planting and gifting to good causes. This means that our guests can offset the carbon footprint of travel to our holiday parks by purchasing trees which are planted in Madagascar by the Eden Reforestation Project. Also 10% of every donation will be given to The Woodland Trust Scotland to support tree planting and protect native woodlands in Scotland.

A “Climate Positive Booking” allows you to make an environmental and social impact by planting trees to offset your journey and gifting vital funds to our chosen charity.

Every £1 will plant 2 trees, enough to rebalance the footprint of 365 miles in the average family car. 10% of every £1 will also be gifted to our charity The Woodland Trust Scotland and this donation directly supports 10 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

How We Are Reducing Our Footprint

Electric Fleet

We are starting to transition our vehicle fleet from diesel to hybrids. Our housekeeping & landscaping teams are also using electric buggies & machinery, so you might see them but not hear them!

Eliminating Virgin Plastics

We have reduced the quantity of mini toiletries we offer and also are now using all ARRAN Sense of Scotland bottles made of 100% PCR material.

Rich Biodiversity

Our holiday parks positively impact on the local environment by providing natural habitats with indigenous trees, plants and wildlife to thrive and we plant wildflower meadows to enhance our biodiversity. We use water buts & make our own compost for our shrubberies.

Green Offices

Working with Business Energy Scotland, we have installed new double glazed windows & doors to our offices, as well as simple energy saving measures such as door closers. We also have a "turn off" policy.

Green Technology

Our server is powered by 100% Renewable Energy, with 10 Trees planted each month & CO2 Offset (Approx. 0.2 Tonnes each month). We use online teams meetings to collaborate, thus reduce our carbon footprint and we are working towards a paperless office.

WiFi Heating Thermostats.jpg

WiFi Heating Thermostats

We are introducing miMonitor smart wifi heating thermostats to our holiday homes to reduce our energy consumption.

Biomass Heating.jpg

100% Renewable Energy

Energy for the parks is 100% renewable, through British Gas Business. We have also invested in biomass heating system to help heat and provide hot water to our communal facilities at our parks from a renewable source.

PIR sensors.jpg

Lighting Motion Sensors

Our park toilet & shower facilities have had motion sensor/PIR installed to reduce our lighting energy consumption. We also use LED lighting throughout our parks.

Green Buildings.jpg

Green Buildings

Our holiday homes & buildings are all well insulated. We use energy saving lightbulbs and appliances are all A-rated.

Green Champions.jpg

Green Champions

We have fully accredited Green Champions for our holiday parks who can recommend measures to improve our energy efficiency and environmental performance.

Our Social Impact

We are also giving 10% to our chosen good cause THE WOODLAND TRUST SCOTLAND. They are a registered charity who works to plant and halt the loss of native woods and trees in Scotland and restore existing woodland to peak condition. They also manage and look after around 60 woods in Scotland, covering more than 11,000 hectares from Sutherland to Stranraer. All are free to visit and guest at our holiday parks can explore them when on holiday.
