Deeside Holiday Park - Access Statement
Deeside Holiday Park is a family-run park offering self-catering accommodation, private holiday home ownership, lodges, touring pitches and glamping pods. Our Holiday Park is located on the outskirts of Aberdeen in the village of Maryculter, just six miles from the busy city centre. Our aim is to provide a high level of customer care and service for all of our guests and visitors, whilst staying with us at Deeside Holiday Park.
If you should require any further or special assistance at any time during your stay with us, please ask any member of staff and they will do their utmost to assist you.
From the south:
On the A90 take a left at the Bridge of Dee roundabout as you approach Aberdeen. Follow the B9077, sign-posted Maryculter, for 5.5 miles until you reach the Old Mill Inn on your right. We are 100 yards past the hotel entrance on the right.
From the north:
Follow the A90 sign-posted Dundee/Perth. At the Bridge of Dee roundabout take a right onto the B9077 sign-posted Maryculter. The park is 5.5 miles along this road on the right, 100yards past the entrance to the Old Mill Inn.
From the east:
On the A90 follow the signs for Aberdeen. Before reaching Aberdeen, take a left off the main road onto the B979 Netherley/Peterculter. Travel for approximately five miles along this road until you reach a T-junction, sign-posted Peterculter. Turn right here and the Park is the first on your left a short distance along this road.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
On arrival at the Holiday Park we request that all visitors/guests report to Reception (the building located in front of you as you arrive into the Park). Car parking is available at the side and front of the Reception, at the entrance to the Holiday Park. There is one designated disabled space closest to the Reception.
Main Entrance & Reception
From the parking area, there is a short walk to the Reception building, with level access into the Reception. There is currently no disabled door control, however, if you contact a member of staff they will be more than happy to assist.
Reception is open daily from 9am to 5pm in the winter and till 6pm in the summer. After the Reception is closed there is a Duty Warden available by telephone for any emergencies. We also have Wardens’ residing on the Park.
Public Areas (External)
The main road to the Holiday Park is tarmac with speed humps and a 10mph speed limit is in place. The roads accessed from the main road are mainly tarmac, with some areas being gravel.
The Park has minimal external lighting to create a suitable ambience at night. The lights are on sensors and are fitted with low energy bulbs, keeping energy costs to a minimum and helping the environment.
Amenity Block & Laundry
We have a new contemporary facility for our ladies and gents toilets and showers, a specially adapted toilet and shower and a laundry. These facilities have level ground access and are open at all times for our guests.
The Laundry facilities are also located within the temporary amenity block and comprises of a washing machine, tumble dryer, dish wash and food preparation area as well as an integrated baby changing facility. The laundry machines are coin operated.
Outdoor Play Area
Our outdoor play area is situated centrally with a large open grass area and facilities for children of all ages. There are currently swings as well as a specially designed basket swing, climbing frames and a sand pit for the children.
We request all children to be supervised at all times when using the play equipment and can not be responsible for the safety of your children. The play areas are closed by 10pm to reduce noise on the Park. Dogs are not permitted onto the play areas.
Caravan Holiday Homes
All of our caravan holiday homes are Thistle graded with full central heating and double glazing and all include the bed linen and towels. There are two or three steps into each of the caravan holiday homes and they all have a patio area with a picnic bench.
Parking is provided alongside or nearby our caravan holiday homes, which permit two cars per unit, with additional cars to be parked in the parking bays or outside Reception, at the entrance to the Holiday Park. Currently we have a specially adapted caravan holiday home available at our Blairgowrie Holiday Park.
All of our Lodges are heated throughout with full central heating and double glazing. All Lodges also include the bed linen and towels. There are three/four steps into each of the Lodges. The Lodges all have a veranda area with a picnic bench or garden furniture. The Lodges have double doors at the front, which can both be opened for better access.
Parking is provided alongside all of our Lodges, which permit two cars per unit, with additional cars to be parked on the forecourt at the entrance to the Holiday Park.
We do not currently have any disabled friendly Lodges.
Some lodges have hot tubs on the decking area which are accessed from the decking. Guidelines and disclosures are in place for use of these hot tubs by guests only. There are three steps accessing the hot tubs.
Our touring pitches are all on ground level and accessed by the main tarmac road, some by the gravel road and others over the grass area. The majority of pitches are gravel under foot, but we do have a limited number of grass pitches (weather dependent).
All of our touring pitches have parking alongside for one car and additional cars can be parked on the forecourt. Motorhome pitches require any additional cars to be parked in the parking bays or outside Reception, as our site license is for one motorised vehicle per pitch.
Our tent pitches are on grass with some offering electric hook-up facility. The majority of pitches can offer parking alongside, however some require parking in the bay areas near the tent pitches.
Electric hook-ups are available on all pitches and are shared/individual numbered bollards. Water points are located on some touring bollards as well as centrally on the park close to the amenity block.
The Chemical disposal point is centrally located and is on ground level with access at all times. No drive-over dump station is currently available.
Wheelchairs can be arranged in advance from the local branch of the British Red Cross for use while staying at the Park. These must be booked in advance and they usually request a donation for use of this facility.
We welcome dogs onto our Holiday Park, however, they must be kept on leads at all times when on the Park and we also have dog walk area. Our self-catering accommodation has some pet-friendly and some pet free units (this must be specified at the time of booking) and pet units can accept a maximum of two dogs per unit (charges apply).
Assistance dogs are welcome in all of accommodation and also must be advised of at the time of booking.
There is a service bus which runs from the top of Milltimber Brae (approximately a one-mile walk from the Park), which operates into the centre of Aberdeen and the surrounding villages. Alternatively, the local taxi service is available and we can assist with making pre-bookings if required. The taxis can pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation if required.
Mobile Telephone Coverage & Wifi
The majority of mobile phone networks operate in the area and if required there is a public telephone box located a short walk from the Park (see display boards at the entrance to the Holiday Park for further directions).
Wifi is available in the Holiday Park through an external supplier (Camping Connect). This option is complementary in some of the caravan holiday homes and lodges and can be purchased online for other users. Due to our remote location, the wifi coverage can fluctuate, especially at peak user times.
Basic First Aid
Our first aid kit is located in the Reception at the front entrance of the Holiday Park. We currently have qualified first aiders in our team to assist, should they be required to do so. There is a local doctor surgery and chemists in Peterculter and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is on the outskirts of the city.
Recycling & Refuse
Our recycling and refuse point is located at the entrance to the Holiday Park behind the screened area and is well signed. You are able to get vehicular access to this area if required. We currently recycle paper, glass, cardboard and aluminium.
CCTV operates at the entrance to our Park as well as on other locations on the grounds of our Park to assist in the security and safety of our guests. This recording is not available to any other parties and is the property of Deeside Holiday Park.
Non-Smoking Accommodation & Facilities
All of our accommodation and facilities are designated non-smoking and penalties will apply if these rules are not adhered to.
