Lomond Woods Holiday Park - Access Statement
Lomond Woods Holiday Park is a family-run park offering self-catering accommodation, private holiday home ownership and touring pitches. Our Holiday Park is located in the village of Balloch, just a short walk from Loch Lomond. Our aim is to provide a high level of customer care and service for all of our guests and visitors whilst staying with us at Lomond Woods Holiday Park.
If you should require any further or special assistance at any time during your stay with us please ask any member of staff and they will do their utmost to assist you.
From the south:
Follow the signs for the M8 to Glasgow Airport and also signs for Loch Lomond as you approach the city. Conintune on the motorway past the airport and follow the signs for the Erskine Bridge. Continue over the Erskine Bridge and take the A82 Crianlarich road to Balloch. Take a right at the roundabout into Balloch on the A811 and then first left at the roundabout past ‘McDonalds’ signposted Lomond Shores. Take a left at the next roundabout and Lomond Woods is approximately 100 yards on your left, just opposite the entrance to Lomond Shores Visitor Centre.
From the north:
Follow the A82 down the west side of Loch Lomond signed for Glasgow. On arriving at the south side of the Loch, you will pass Cameron House on your left and continue to the next roundabout. At this roundabout take a left into Balloch on the A811, then take first left at the next roundabout past ‘McDonalds’ signposted Lomond Shores. Take a left at the next roundabout and Lomond Woods is approximately 100 yards on your left, just opposite the entrance to Lomond Shores Visitor Centre.
From the east:
From Stirling take the A811 signposted for Erskine Bridge/Balloch passing through Buchlyvie and Drymen and continuing on until reaching Balloch. On arrival into Balloch, continue straight through over the roundabout still following the signs for Erskine Bridge. At the next roundabout take a right at the roundabout past ‘McDonalds’ signposted Lomond Shores. Take a left at the next roundabout and Lomond Woods is approximately 100 yards on your left, just opposite the entrance to Lomond Shores Visitor Centre.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
On arrival at the Holiday Park we request that all visitors/guests report to Reception (the building located to the left as you arrive at the Park). Car parking is available at the front of Reception, at the entrance to the Holiday Park. There is one designated disabled space closest to the Reception.
Main Entrance & Reception
From the parking area the Reception building is directly in front of you, there is no ramp access and there is one step upto the Reception, however, ramp access is provided at the side of the Reception via the Laundrette. There is currently no disabled door control but if you contact a member of staff they will be more than happy to assist you. Reception is open daily from 9am to 5pm in the Winter and until 6pm in the Summer. After the Reception closes a Duty Warden will be available by telephone for any emergencies. We also have Wardens residing on the Park.
Public Areas (External)
The main road to the Holiday Park is tarmac with speed humps and a 10mph speed limit is in place. The roads accessed from the main road are predominantly gravel under foot with only some areas being tarmac. The Park has minimal external lighting to create a suitable ambiance at night. The lights are either on sensors or timers.
Amenity Block, Chemical Disposal & Wash-up Area
The ladies and gents toilets and showers are accessed from pathways around the block at the centre of the Park. The ladies has two entrance doors and the gents one, all with one step up. There are numerous toilets, showers and wash-hand basins available, and also two hip-baths in the ladies. The facilities are all accessed by a lock and key system (keys provided to all guests on arrival). Assistance in entering the amenity block can be arranged at Reception during opening hours. There is a disabled friendly washroom with ramp access from the path with a walk-in shower, wash-hand basin and grip rails next to the WC (specific key required for access which is available at Reception on arrival). Baby changing is also available. The dish-wash area is accessed from the pathways within the amenity block and has step access. There are two sinks and drainers available.
Our public Laundry facilities are located at the entrance of the Park and parking is out front. There is ramp access into the laundry, which is accessed by a lock and key system (keys provided to all guests on arrival). Assistance using and accessing the laundry facilities can be arranged at Reception during opening hours. Tokens can be purchased from Reception.
Our play area is located in the centre of the Holiday Park and has sand, grass and soft matting protective surfaces surrounding the facilities which are suitable for children of all ages. We request that children are supervised at all times when using the play equipment as we can not accept responsibility for the safety of your children. The play areas close at 10pm to reduce noise in the Park. Dogs are not permitted on the play areas.
The games/TV room is located at the entrance to the Park opposite the Reception. Access is by lock and key (the same key as for the amenity block which is issued to all guests on arrival). There is table tennis, a pool table and a TV lounge area. Entrance is on the level over a path from the main road.
Caravan Holiday Homes
All of our caravan holiday homes are Thistle graded with full central heating and double glazing and all include the bed linen and towels. There are two or three steps into each of the caravan holiday homes and they all have a patio area with a picnic bench.
Parking is provided alongside our caravan holiday homes or in front of the caravans with some steps to reach the level of the caravan, permitting two cars per unit, with additional cars to be parked on the forecourt at the entrance to the Holiday Park. Please request at time of booking if parking alongside is required. We do not currently have any disabled friendly caravan holiday homes.
All of our Lodges are graded ‘four star’ by Visit Scotland and are heated throughout with panel heaters or with full central heating and double glazing, bed linen and towels are also provided in each Lodge. There are two or three steps upto each of the Lodges and some have side ramp access. The Lodges all have a veranda area with a picnic bench or garden furniture. The Lodges have double doors at the front, which can both be opened for better access. Parking is provided alongside all of our Lodges which permits two cars per unit (three at the Larches), with additional cars to be parked on the forecourt at the entrance to the Holiday Park. We do not currently have any disabled friendly Lodges.
Our touring pitches are all on ground level and accessed via the main tarmac road, the gravel road or over the grass area. All of our pitches are gravel under foot and have parking alongside for one car with additional cars permitted to park on the forecourt. Motorhome pitches require any additional cars to be parked on the forecourt as our site license is for one motorised vehicle per pitch. As well as standard pitches we also have fully-serviced pitches which offer additional benefits to the user. Electric hook-ups are available on all pitches and are individual or shared numbered bollards, some with a lighting above. The water and chemical disposal point is located within the one step access amenity block via key entry (no drive-over dump station is currently available). There is also a drive-over motorhome dump station available on the front entrance forecourt.
Wheelchairs can be arranged in advance from the local branch of the British Red Cross for use while staying at the Park. These must be booked in advance and they usually request a donation for use of this facility.
We welcome dogs onto our Holiday Park, however they must be kept on leads at all times when on the Park and we also have dog walk area. Our self-catering accommodation has some pet friendly and some pet free units (this must be specified at the time of booking) and pet units can accept a maximum of two dogs per unit (charges apply). Assistance dogs are welcome in all of accommodation and also must be advised of at the time of booking.
There are service buses which run reguarly from outside the Holiday Park, operating locally and into Glasgow. The train station is also located in the centre of Balloch which operates into Glasgow centre as well as to the neighbouring towns. Alternatively their is a local taxi service and we can assist with making pre-bookings if required. The taxis can pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation if required and there is a taxi rank outside the train station.
Mobile Telephone Coverage
The majority of mobile phone networks operate in the area and if required there is a public telephone box located a short walk form the Park (see display boards at the entrance to the Holiday Park for further directions).
Basic First Aid
Our first aid kit is located in the Reception at the front of the Holiday Park. We also currently have two qualified first aider providers to assist should they be required to do so. There are doctors and pharmacies available locally and the Vale of Leven Hospital is close-by too.
Recycling & Refuse
Our recycling and refuse point is located at the entrance to the Holiday Park behind the store and is well signed. You are able to get vehicular access to this area if required. We currently recycle paper, glass, cardboard and aluminium and plastic.
CCTV operates at the entrance to our Park and on various other locations on the grounds of our Park to assist in the security and safety of our guests. This recording is not available to any other parties and is the property of Blairgowrie Holiday Park.
Non-Smoking Accommodation & Facilities
All of our accommodation and facilities are designated non-smoking and penalties will apply if these rules are not adhered to.
