3 Days of Adventure from Lomond Woods | Loch Lomond

Are you looking for an active holiday where you can enjoy both outdoor adventure and cultural experiences? Would you like to get off the beaten track and try something new? Then explore our guide to three days of adventure when you stay at Lomond Woods Holiday Park.

Adventures Within Walking Distance

The beauty of a trip to Lomond Woods is that there is a huge choice of adventures to be had right on the doorstep at Loch Lomond Shores, within walking distance from the park.

Rated 5 stars by VisitScotland, Lomond Shores offers a wealth of great attractions:

There is also an Adventure Play Park, woodland walks and two beaches. The Loch Lomond Shores Express mini-train will take you on a ride around Loch Lomond Shores and runs most weekends and daily during peak holidays.

You can also enjoy a great range of snacks and meals at Cafe Zest and snacks, coffees and cakes in Caffe at The Shores or simply BBQ on the beach or enjoy a woodland picnic.

Families will love the Jurassic Grill and Jurassic Ice Bar – both dinosaur-themed – offering an amazing dining experience.

You can also browse the many stores and boutique shops.

Lomond Shores hosts some great events throughout the year – including a twice-monthly market and major weekend festivals such as Springfest and a Food & Drink Festival. They also host a wide range of children’s activities throughout the school holidays.

Take a Cruise & Explore Inchcailloch Island

What better way to experience Loch Lomond than getting out on the loch? Family-owned company Cruise Loch Lomond run cruises from several points around the loch.  Luss is the best departure point for visitors to Lomond Woods, as it is just a short drive up the west side of Loch Lomond from the park.

The pretty conservation village of Luss is worth a visit alone. The neat rows of cottages come alive in spring and summer with elaborate flower displays, and the view of Ben Lomond from the pier is stunning.

From Luss, you can book one of their Cruise Loch Lomond’s ‘stay on board’ Circular Cruises or ‘hop on and off’ with an Explorer Cruise to discover stunning walks, islands, beaches, villages and ancient woodland.

The Explorer Cruise from Luss to Inchcailloch Island is a special experience. It is a magical place in spring when the island is carpeted in bluebells.

In summer, the island flourishes and becomes a rich habitat for birds, flowers and plant life. There is a pretty little beach which is perfect for paddling and picnics.

Once on Inchcailloch, there are three walking routes which can be enjoyed separately or together. Each path takes 30-45 minutes; just take your time and enjoy the view.

Take the Plunge with a Water Sports Adventure!

Loch Lomond is the largest area of fresh water in the UK. There is no better adventure to be had on Loch Lomond than trying your hand at one of the many water sports activities on offer. Especially on a warm summer day, there is no better way to create awesome holiday memories with friends or family.

There are several companies around the loch offering water sports. Choose from kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) or canoeing to explore the loch at a leisurely pace.

If you prefer something faster, then how about waterskiing, wakeboarding, or a speed boat trip!

For the ultimate adventure, you can try gorge walking in a hidden gorge at nearby Luss. This will involve jumping into deep dark pools, scrambling over rocks and sliding down water chutes. You can even stick your head under a tumbling waterfall if you are so inclined!

Go on – take the plunge! You will find details of all Loch Lomond water sports providers here
