Why We Chose Our Humans a Holiday Home at Corriefodly

By Bella & Lola, Chief Holiday Home Inspectors, Professional Stick Collectors & Occasional Squirrel Chasers

We often joke that some of our holiday homes are sold twice – once to the owners and once to their dogs.

It might sound strange, but we’ve lost count of the number of prospective owners who bring their four-legged friends along to view a holiday home. And more than once we’ve heard someone say, “Well, the dogs seem happy here!”

So, we thought we’d hand over the blog to two very special guest writers…

When our humans told us we were looking at holiday homes, we knew this was a big responsibility.

Somebody had to make sure they chose the right one.

Our humans spent their time looking at things like kitchens, bedrooms and price tags.

We focused on the important stuff.

  • Walks
  • Wildlife
  • Swimming opportunities
  • And overall squirrel potential

Over several weekends, we visited all six Wood Leisure parks before making our final decision.

Blairgowrie Holiday Park

Perthshire

A very relaxing park with a dog walk, and the River Ericht path was great for exploring.

We enjoyed meeting other dogs and finding sunny spots to lie down.

There were even plenty of dog-friendly cafés and pubs within walking distance. Apparently, a nice walk followed by a quiet drink makes our humans very happy. Personally, we were just hoping somebody might drop a sausage.

Definitely a strong contender.

Lomond Woods Holiday Park

Loch Lomond

The smells here were exceptional.

There were endless walks to investigate around Loch Lomond and lots of exciting places to explore.

A solid score from both of us.

Callander Woods Holiday Park

Stirlingshire

We were particularly impressed by the dog wash station.

Apparently, after one of us jumped into a muddy puddle (we’re not naming names), our humans were impressed too.

The woodland dog walk was excellent, with plenty to keep our noses occupied, and the open grassy area down by the river really impressed us.

There were also lots of dog-friendly places nearby where our humans could stop for a drink while we rested under the table pretending we weren’t interested in their lunch.

Deeside Holiday Park

Aberdeenshire

Beautiful scenery, lots of fresh air and endless opportunities for adventures. The Deeside Way along the river was one of our favourite walks.

We particularly enjoyed keeping watch for ducks and rabbits and investigating every interesting smell we could find.

Faskally Woods Holiday Park

near Pitlochry

A very strong entry.

Not only are there beautiful woodland and riverside walks nearby, but we were delighted to discover the dog-friendly snug area in The Courtyard Bar & Bistro.

Any place that welcomes dogs while our humans enjoy lunch deserves serious consideration.

And Then We Found Corriefodly…

It was just a short drive from home to reach the park, near Bridge of Cally in Perthshire.

The moment we arrived, we knew this place was different.

First, there were red squirrels.

Lots of red squirrels.

Not that we ever catch them, of course. We simply enjoy ensuring they know we’re there.

Then there was the River Ardle.

Clear water.

Perfect paddling spots.

Places to cool off after a long walk.

The woodland walks seemed to go on forever, and every day there was a new part of the Cateran Trail to explore. The park even has its own dog wash station, which apparently helps remove the evidence of our muddy adventures.

We also discovered plenty of other dogs enjoying life at the park, which is always a good sign.

Then we found the perfect lodge…

It had spacious decking with a gate, which meant we could enjoy sitting outside watching the world go by without our humans worrying about us disappearing off on an unscheduled squirrel investigation.

We could see this becoming our favourite spot for morning patrols, afternoon naps and keeping an eye on everything happening around the park.

By the end of the visit, our decision was made.

Corriefodly had everything two dogs could want.

Our Final Verdict…

After many walks, swims, squirrel patrols and very careful inspections, it became clear that every Wood Leisure Holiday Park offered a wonderful place for our humans and us to spend quality time together.

Each one had its own adventures, walks and exciting new smells to discover.

But for us, Corriefodly had that little bit extra.

  • Woodland walks
  • Riverside adventures
  • Swimming opportunities
  • Red squirrels
  • Dog wash station
  • Gated decking for safe squirrel surveillance
  • A peaceful place to relax with our humans

Best of all, we can come back whenever we like. Autumn leaves, winter snow, spring smells and summer swims – we get to enjoy them all from our very own countryside retreat.

Our humans think they chose a holiday home at Corriefodly.

But between you and us, we all know who made the final decision.

Woof! Woof!
