The Cateran Trail
The Cateran Trail is a superb circular long-distance route that straddles the border between Perthshire and Angus. The Trail explores this neglected corner, taking in secluded Strathardle together with parts of Glen Shee and Glen Isla.
Blairgowrie to Kirkmichael: 24.25km 6 - 7 hours
Kirkmichael to Spittal of Glenshee: 13km 4 - 4.5 hours
Spittal of Glenshee to Glenisla: 23.5km 6 - 7 hours
Kirkton of Glenisla to Alyth: 17km 4.5-5.5 hours
Alyth to Blairgowrie: 26.25km 6.5-7.5 hours

Cargill's Leap and the Knockie, Blairgowrie
Well-loved by Blairgowrie folk, this varied circuit follows the River Ericht upstream with its waterfalls, woodlands and many old mills. The return is over the Knockie, a viewpoint looking out over Blairgowrie to the Sidlaw hills beyond.

Tullyfergus Circuit, near Blairgowrie
This enjoyable loop begins through the dense forestry plantations of Drimmie Wood but later leads onto the lovely Tullyfergus estate on fine old drove roads with a fine lochan, woods and wildflowers.

This fine circular walk from Blairgowrie takes in fertile countryside, a couple of attractive lochs and a wood which is carpeted with bluebells in early summer.

This varied walk is a real Perthshire classic. It begins through the beautiful wooded glen of the Hermitage, complete with picturesque follies and attractive waterfalls.

Craighall Gorge & the Old A93
Just north of Blairgowrie lies the Craighall Gorge, through which runs the remains of the old A93 road from Blairgowrie to Glenshee. Abandoned by motorists, the ghostly highway remains open to pedestrians, although nature is slowly encroaching upon the tarmac.
