Inchmahome Priory

Cross Scotland’s only lake to explore a peaceful, wooded island chosen as a monastic sanctuary. Robert the Bruce sought solace at Inchmahome Priory and Mary Queen of Scots found safety here as a child. Inchmahome Priory was founded in 1238 and much of the 13th century building remains.
Cambuskenneth Abbey

Cambuskenneth Abbey is one of Scotland’s most important abbeys and is home to a fine collection of medieval grave slabs and architectural fragments. It was founded in about 1140 by King David I to serve Stirling Castle, which stands a short distance to the west. It was the scene of Robert the Bruce’s parliaments in 1314 and 1326, and the burial place of James III and Margaret of Denmark in the 1480s.
