Aberdeen Cycling Routes

We are unbelievably lucky with the amount of cycling routes in the area. From chilled out 'flat as a pancake' short road loops to full-on off-road adventures and some of Scotland’s best mountain bike trails.  

With open peaceful roads, ancient forests, historic railway lines and long golden beaches there’s every chance to get our on your bike in the area.

The Deeside Way 

The Deeside Way is a long-distance riverside path running from near the centre of Aberdeen City, to Ballater, in the Cairngorms National Park. It is mostly waymarked. The path is suitable for walkers and cyclists and is Route 135 of the National Cycleway. The route follows the line of the Old Royal Deeside Railway from Aberdeen to Banchory, through woodland and farmland to Kincardine O’Neil and then rejoins the old line from Aboyne to Ballater, total distance 41 miles.

Our local mountain bike trails have something for everyone, although they are all natural so not hard pack like you find at many trail centres.

Tarland Trails provides 3 km of family friendly mountain bike trails. Warm up on the pump track, then head up the hill for blue, red and orange trails. Something for everyone and once down at the bottom you can head back to the top and ride again!
