May is the month when bluebells bloom in Scotland. They tend to be found in ancient woodlands, where they have had time to establish themselves and spread out over the woodland floor. More often than not they are in beautiful oak woodlands that are lovely for walking in.

Spring is lovely time to visit Scotland's castles and stately homes with spectacular displays of spring bulbs in the gardens and wider estate grounds. These attractions tend to be a bit quieter earlier in the season, so you can enjoy them without the crowds.
