The town of Pitlochry, just three miles from Faskally Woods, is well worth a visit during your stay. The main street offers a mix of independent shops, cafés, and pubs where you can grab a coffee, pick up locally made goods, or enjoy a meal.
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
The Pitlochry Festival Theatre, known as the ‘theatre in the hills,’ is a highlight for theatre lovers. With Alan Cumming now at the helm as Festival Director, there's fresh energy and interest in the programme. The popular summer season features a rotating schedule of shows, and the Christmas production is a favourite with families.
Pitlochry's Dam and Fish Ladder
Pitlochry’s Dam and Fish Ladder is another unique attraction. Built to help salmon migrate upstream, the ladder stretches 310 metres with 34 pools, including three resting pools. Over 5,000 salmon make the journey each year — it’s impressive to see them leaping during the season.
Blair Athol Distillery
And for whisky fans, a tour and tasting at Blair Athol Distillery — one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries — is a must.
